How to remove common food stains

We have all stained our clothes at some time or the other. And, we’ve tried to remove it, albeit unsuccessfully. Stains, especially food stains, are very difficult to remove, if not dealt with immediately.

Some of the common food stains that we deal with on a daily basis are tea and coffee marks. What we need to do first is to wash the area immediately with warm water and a detergent. Vinegar is a good stain remover too. Add one teaspoon of vinegar to one quarter of cold water and dip the stained cloth in the water. Wash the loose particles of the stain and then wash with warm water.

Tomato sauce stains are one of the toughest stains to remove from clothes. It is best to remove these stains when fresh by wetting the area and adding some dishwashing detergent to it. A toothbrush can be used to scrub out the sauce remnants from the area. Wash the stain with warm water and then follow the general laundry process. Dry out the garment in the sun instead of a dryer, to remove the stain completely.
